We are delighted to announce that Dereje Almayehu, with the American Mosquito Control Association team and Doctor Dawit Alemayehu, took part in the 9th PAMCA conference and exhibition in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. During the conference, the accomplishments made by the MATE pilot project in Ethiopia and the milestones reached by our team on the ground run by Yotor were showcased.
The 9th PAMCA Annual Conference & Exhibition was graciously hosted at the Skylight Hotel in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, from September 17th to 21st, 2023, under the auspices of the PAMCA Ethiopia Chapter. This year’s theme was “Reorienting surveillance and management in the face of emerging disease vector threats.” The event drew an impressive gathering of over 750 professionals, including researchers, policymakers, partners, and civil society members from not only Africa but the world over.
Our MATE (Mosquito Abatement Through Empowerment) presentation garnered well-deserved attention and praise. We had the unique opportunity to network with a diverse group of global peers, exchange insights, share enriching experiences, and forge partnerships to propel our initiative forward. It fills us with gratification to have our efforts recognized at such a distinguished event.
In a subsequent development on September 25th, doctors Dawit Alemayehu and Dereje Alemayehu engaged in a fruitful discussion with the Rotary Club of Addis Ababa East. They elaborated on the commendable progress of the MATE project and addressed questions posed by attendees. This interaction with the Rotary Club of Addis has fortified our collaboration, paving the way for continued success.
